A superfood powerhouse of a green smoothie with pineapple & pomegranate taking centre stage
Why Pomegranates? Well just have a look at some of the health benefits:
- a good source of soluble and insoluble dietary fibre
- good for weight loss and cholesterol regulation
- ellagitannin compounds such as Granatin B, and Punicalagin help reduce the risk of heart disease
- high in antioxidants
- high in vitamin C
- high in B-complex vitamins
What's not to love?! Often just sprinkled on salds ar eaten raw, they work really well in smoothies too.
Don't forget to soak those chia seeds in a little water for 5 minutes before adding to your smoothie to ease their digestion.
|2 handfuls spinach|
|1/2 frozen banana|
|1 avocado, flesh scooped out|
|1 small handful pomegranate seeds|
|1/2 cup fresh pineapple, cubed|
|300ml coconut (or filtered) water|
|2 tbsp chia seeds|
Add all ingredients to the blender and mix for 40-60 seconds until well combined.
You do need a decent blender for this recipe to cut through the pomegranate seeds so it's not bitty in texture.
