Flax seeds, not widely used but a really great nutrient-dense addition to your diet!
You can use them in lots of things – salads, soups, porridge, muffins – I use them mainly in smoothies so far (1 to 2 tbsp each time). But why would you want to?:
• They are an essential for women's health (full of Vitamin B1 and Magnesium amongst many other goodies) but has great benefits whoever you are.
• They are low in carbohydrates, so align nicely in a Paleo or Primal lifestyle.
• They are high in Fibre, Antioxidants and Omega 3.
• ‘Lignans' are chemical compounds found in Flax seeds, fantastic for breast health, colon health, regulating diabetes, improving prostate health, boosting your immune system and coping with the menopause.
I usually add them to my green smoothies. How do you use them? :-)
