Flax seeds, not widely used but a really great nutrient-dense addition to your diet!

You can use them in lots of things – salads, soups, porridge, muffins – I use them mainly in smoothies so far (1 to 2 tbsp each time). But why would you want to?:

They are an essential for women's health (full of Vitamin B1 and Magnesium amongst many other goodies) but has great benefits whoever you are.

They are low in carbohydrates, so align nicely in a Paleo or Primal lifestyle.

They are high in Fibre, Antioxidants and Omega 3.

‘Lignans' are chemical compounds found in Flax seeds, fantastic for breast health, colon health, regulating diabetes, improving prostate health, boosting your immune system and coping with the menopause.

I usually add them to my green smoothies. How do you use them? :-)
